Community Led Planning (CLP) is a step-by-step process that enables every resident to participate in, and contribute to improving the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of their local area (ACRE).
In Herefordshire the process starts with the Parish Council agreeing to support a CLP and organising an Open Meeting which all community members are encouraged to attend. Lynda Wilcox facilitates this meeting, where a Steering Group is formed.
A Development Support Officer at Community First then supports the Steering Group through the process of producing a CLP. The various stages are detailed in this sample timetable
There is currently a grant available from Herefordshire Council for the production of a new CLP or updating a plan which is over 5 years old. Please click this link to find out more.
It is important that your plan is kept up to date. It is advisable to review it at least annually; some Councils have used their CLP as a business plan and have based their precept around the objectives identified. Specific advice on how to review and update your CLP is available from the CAPI officer.
The CAPI officer is available to support Town/Parish Councils with the implementation of their CLP. The CAPI Officer can:
